Our Story
It all started over 15 years ago, when our founder, John Redford, adopted his first dog as an adult. John wanted to give his new pup only the healthiest food, but he struggled to find high-quality options without artificial ingredients and fillers.
After doing extensive research into pet nutrition, John decided to make his own natural dog food using simple whole food ingredients. His pup loved the food and thrived on it.
Encouraged by these results, John began developing recipes for natural cat and puppy foods as well. He started selling small batches of his homemade pet food to friends and neighbors. As demand grew, John realized he was onto something big.
In 2005, John officially launched Redford Naturals® to share his natural, wholesome pet food recipes with fellow pet parents nationwide. We started in John’s home kitchen, producing just a few formulas for dogs and cats.
Today, we offer dozens of recipes across our four premium product lines: Puppy, Adult Dog, Mature Dog, and Cat. And as a brand, we’ve stayed true to John’s original vision – creating pet food with only the best natural ingredients, and nothing artificial.
Over the years, John’s passion has remained the driving force behind our brand. He still personally tests and approves every Redford Naturals recipe to ensure it meets his strict quality standards.

Our Facilities
While we started small in John’s home kitchen, demand for Redford Naturals grew rapidly. So we upgraded to a state-of-the-art production facility in 2007 to keep up with orders and ensure food safety.
Today, we proudly manufacture all Redford Naturals recipes at our 80,000 square foot facility in Bowling Green, Kentucky. This facility helps us control quality from start to finish.
Our facility exceeds industry standards when it comes to cleanliness, safety protocols, and quality control checks. We regularly invest in improving our equipment and systems to take our production capability to the next level.

- Sourcing – We get regular deliveries of fresh meats, fish, fruits, vegetables, and other ingredients from trusted local and regional farms and suppliers. This ensures we always have the freshest ingredients on hand.
- Food safety – Our facility follows rigorous HACCP plans. We have strict protocols for hand washing, sanitation, employee uniforms, pest control, and more. Our quality team performs safety checks and lab tests throughout production.
- Quality control – From raw ingredients to finished foods, we have multiple process controls to ensure consistency and quality. This includes sieving, magnets, metal detectors, and other techniques. We conduct frequent equipment calibrations and maintenance.
- Testing – Our on-site lab runs safety and quality tests on ingredients and finished products. We test for nutrients, bacteria, heavy metals, and more to verify our high standards are met.
- Packaging – We have an advanced packaging line that handles filling, sealing, labeling, and boxing to get our premium foods ready for shipping.
